A Day Late - Dystonia Series

For this post of my Dystonia series, I would like to highlight the Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia & Parkinsons Foundation. They are a great resource for patients and caregivers. I so appreciate the fact that they have put these two diseases together, as I think they should be...both movement disorders, both come from the same part of the brain, a lot of the same treatments, etc. They have a symposium coming up in March and will be held in New York City. It looks full of great information & I commend them for offering so many classes on alternative type therapies. Click this LINK for more information on the symposium.

Speaking of alternative therapies....I am now on week 12 of being injection (Botox) free (Read more about that HERE). I went through quite a rough patch after the holidays. Lots of tremors and my neck pulling very hard. During that time, I was not exercising daily like I had been. I started back up this week and things are looking up again. I am finding that if I don't exercise, move my muscles, stretch....get rid of my excess energy, balance my nervous system...that I am in trouble.

Dystonia is such an interesting disease as it is so different for everyone. I continue to tweak my program and find the right balance of exercise, rest, nutrition, pain pills, activities that I can do. That is all we can do....keep fighting to live our best lives!

This Dystonia Series will continue on the second Wednesday of each month. Or maybe a day late. :-)
